FertiCult Flushing medium is a chemically balanced salt solution (HEPES buffered) used
for oocyte pick-up, embryo replacement, sperm injection in ICSI, sperm washing and swim-up techniques in human IVF. Spermfreeze/ Embryofreeze


SpermFreeze is a one-step, ready-to-use freezing medium for use with human semen. SpermFreeze contains 15% glycerol and 0.4% HSA, no other additives (e.g. egg-yolk) are needed. EmbryoFreeze is a set of media for freezing and thawing human embryos. Use EmbryoFreeze with propanediol to freeze embryos up to 4-cell stage, use EmbryoFreeze with DMSO to freeze embryos up to 16- cells stage. SpermFreeze and EmbryoFreeze are manufactured according to Good Manufacturing Practice using Pharmacopoeia grade ingredients (where applicable) to ensure the end product is of the highest quality.

Assessment of sperm morphology is a standard procedure in semen analysis. The Spermac staining technique is simple, yet perfectly adequate for the detailed investigation of morphology of all parts of the spermatozoa. The stained smears are assessed under direct bright light and oil immersion (1 OOOX).

The recommended criteria for sperm morphology classification are those given in the WHO laboratory manual for the examination of human semen sperm Cervix mucus interaction (Cambridge University Press, 1992),

In general it is easier or define criteria for abnormal cells than to identity a normal spermatozoon. In assessing sperm morphology it may be advisable to identity cells that are clearly abnormal and consider all other cells as normal.

Almost every semen sample contains cells other than spermatozoa. These may be polygonal ceils are either spermatogenetic precursor cells (spermatids, spermatocytes, sometimes spermatogonia) or white blood cells. Among the later the majority are polymorphonuclear granulocytes that are characterized by granules containing the enzyme peroxidase content,

Round cells staining positive for peroxidase are found in high numbers (more than 1 million/mL) in case of inflammation or infection of the genital tract. Their presence is suggestive but not sufficient to diagnose infection,

a high number of peroxidase negative round cells, usually spermatogenetic cells, suggests increased sloughing of the spermatogenetic epithelium that is associated with dysfunction of the seminiferous tubules.

In case there are more than 1 million round cells per mL of ejaculate, it is recommended to differentiate between the two major types in order to select the correct treatment.
